1. What is DTF transfer printing?
Direct to film (DTF) printing is a new printing technology similar to direct-to-garment (DTG) printing. The main difference is that DTG technology is limited to printing on cotton garments. DTF transfers are far more versatile and can be printed on a variety of garments such as nylon, polyester, denim, silk, and of course cotton. Due to the increasing number of printing applications, DTF transfer is fast becoming one of the most popular methods for printing T-shirts and apparel.
Many people believe that it is only a matter of time before DTF transfer printing surpasses screen printing as the most popular printing method. The DTF printing process is very similar to the Printable PU process, both use water based transfer paper to create (print) the image. The transfer image is then pressed onto the garment using a heat press. Direct transfer film proves to involve sophisticated computer technology capable of producing highly detailed, colorful prints for your t-shirts and apparel. Computer-aided technology has also made direct transfer film a fast and economical method of printing high-volume T-shirts and apparel.
2. What are the advantages of DTF transfer?
One of the features of DTF transfer is that no pretreatment is required; powdered glue does this for you. Soft, water-based inks are applied to fabrics within 15 seconds of hot pressing. Thermal transfer works best on polyester transfer film and other non-cotton textiles, which are difficult to print with regular DTG printing. DTG is mainly used for cotton garments; DTF transfer will never replace DTG when used in cotton printing; nonetheless, it is a good choice at the beginning of the company because of the independent version for mass production transfer capital investment is low.
Direct transfer film printers deliver reliability, unmatched quality and outstanding productivity. They can manage high volumes, which is critical in this rapidly expanding industry. Unlike DTG technology, Direct to Film printers are chosen by most people because the DTF ink price are cheaper and do not require any preprocessing. To print high-quality transfer films, you need DTF powder, sheets, and of course ink.
DTF transfer is suitable for almost all types of fabrics; suitable for small print; no pretreatment required like DTG; no screen block like Silkscreen required; DTF transfer has no color restrictions and can print any color; no cutting or weeding required ;Lowest as low as one sheet of A2 size;Fabric feels very light and colorful;Use DTF transfer, so the designed fabric shows good washing characteristics; The process of DTF transfer is faster and easier than DTG printing.
